1) Valid passport

It is mandatory that your passport is in order before you leave. Make sure it is valid for at least 6 months from your intended date of arrival in Indonesia. Also note that for countries that require a visa, a blank page in your passport is required for each country you plan to visit. Please note that Indonesia does not accept emergency passports.

2) Online Customs Declaration

Since the beginning of 2023, the obligation to complete the customs declaration to travel electronically to Indonesia has been introduced; The traditional paper form is no longer provided on board as it used to be. To meet these requirements, complete the online Indonesian customs declaration form via the Electronic Custom Declaration (ECD) portal.

Once completed, you will receive a QR code that you will need to scan when passing through the airport’s customs department upon arrival in Indonesia.

Please note that the Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD) can only be completed 3 days (72 hours) before departure of your international flight to Indonesia. Prepare in advance for a smooth arrival!

3) New tourist tax in Bali

From February 14, 2024, a new tax of IDR 150,000 will apply to all international travelers who want to visit Bali. This levy aims to contribute to the preservation of Bali’s unique cultural heritage and strengthens the commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism. We explain in the article everything about Bali’s new tourist tax.

4) New Entry Requirement: SATUSEHAT Health Pass (SSHP)

Effective from August 26, 2024, all international travelers and airline personnel entering Indonesia are required to comply with the following new health protocol:

  1. Filling Out the SATUSEHAT Health Pass:
    • Mandatory Submission: All passengers and aircraft personnel traveling from abroad must complete the SATUSEHAT Health Pass as part of their health declaration before entering Indonesia. This is an electronic self-declaration form available at https://sshp.kemkes.go.id.
    • Purpose: The health pass is designed to monitor and prevent the spread of Mpox within Indonesia by ensuring that travelers declare their health status and recent travel history.
  2. Timing and Process:
    • At the Departure Airport: The SATUSEHAT Health Pass must be filled out electronically before departure at the airport of origin. Airline companies are responsible for informing and assisting passengers with this process.
    • Coordination with Health Authorities: Airlines and airport authorities are required to coordinate with the Indonesian Health Quarantine Office to manage any issues related to the health pass and to handle cases of suspected Mpox at arrival airports.
  3. Post-Arrival Protocol:
    • Health Monitoring: Travelers must seek immediate medical attention and present their SATUSEHAT Health Pass if they experience any illness within 21 days after arriving in Indonesia, especially if they have traveled from or through endemic or affected regions.
    • Coordination with Local Health Facilities: In case of illness, travelers are advised to visit the nearest health facility and present the SATUSEHAT Health Pass for further instructions and medical care.

Key points to note:

  • Digital Access: The SATUSEHAT Health Pass is available online, and travelers are encouraged to complete it as early as possible to avoid any delays at the airport.
  • Health Advisory: Travelers from regions with reported cases of Mpox should be particularly vigilant and ensure they comply with all health recommendations and requirements.
  • Consequences of Non-Compliance: Failure to complete the health pass may result in delays or denial of entry into Indonesia, as this is a mandatory health measure.
