Pulo Cinta, or the isle of love, is your tropical love-shaped island resort that pleasantly sits on top of a small islet off the coast of Tomini Gulf in Gorontalo. Rumor has it that Pulo Cinta is a secret escape for a prince of Gorontalo and a daughter of Dutch merchant, their love is forbidden because it happened during colonial era of the Dutch. This story alone is touching and interesting enough tempt visitors, but the island has more to offer. Feel the morning sea breeze as you wake up to an enchanting sunrise and gentle sound of calm waves, it will be a wonderful experience! In this tour, you will also visit a hidden paradise of Olele marine park, with abundant underwater beauties and a chance to spot the whale sharks.

Itinerary: Pulo Cinta & Whale Sharks Experience

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN GORONTALO - CITY TOUR      ▼

Welcome to Gorontalo! The starting point of our Pulo Cinta & whale sharks experience. Arriving at the airport, meet and greet with the guide then we will directly go to explore the city of Gorontalo.

We will visit Menara Keagungan, a tower where you can see the beauty of Gorontalo province from above. After that, we will go to see the traditional house of Gorontalo named Bantayo Poboide, then to Otahana Fort which was built in 15th century by the Portuguese. It is located nearby Limboto lake and has hundreds of stairs to go to the top of it. When you are on top of the fort, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. Afterwards, we continue to Iluta village the entrance gate to go to Limboto Lake. We will go for a culinary tour here, you can try some traditional foods/snacks from Gorontalo (optional, at personal expenses). It will be our last visit before we go to the hotel for check-in and rest. Lunch and dinner will be reserved at a local restaurant.

DAY 2:WHALE SHARK POINT - OLELE MARINE PARK - PULO CINTA      ▼

Prepare your swimsuits as we are going in the waters today!

After breakfast and check out the city hotel, we will go to the whale shark point with a traditional boat. Enjoy snorkeling nearby the world’s largest fish. The fish often swim close to the surface so you don’t need to dive. Although they are often seen all year round, this sighting is not always guaranteed. Next the adventure, we will visit Olele Marine Park or known as “The Hidden Paradise of Goronatalo”, which located about 20 km from the city. Olele and its marine life is a part of Tomini bay which is a conservation area. Once we arrive in Olele beach, we will board a glass-bottom boat to see the beauty of the underwater life. You can also do snorkeling here.

Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. We will go back to the city first in order to have a transfer to Pulo Cinta Eco Resort. Pulo Cinta is a beautiful resort built above the water, that offers panoramic views of Pulo Cinta’s pristine beach. After 2 hours land transfer plus 25 minutes of boat trip, we arrive at the resort, the we will check – in and rest. Dinner at resort.

DAY 3:FREE DAY IN PULO CINTA      ▼

Enjoy your free stay in this beautiful resort. Breathe the reviving smell of the sea. Drown in the endless horizon around you. Blue as far as the eyes can see. Wake up to the sunlight and gentle sound of the waves a morning in Pulo Cinta is a magical moment you wouldn’t want to miss. Full board meals served at the resort.

DAY 4:PULO CINTA - GORONTALO - END OF TRIP      ▼

After breakfast, enjoy your last moments in this Maldives of Indonesia. At the agreed time, with your guide, you will have the transfer to Gorontalo airport. Thank you for enjoying this Pulo Cinta & whale shark experience with us. Sampai Jumpa!

FAQ

When is the best time of the year to do this tour?

Our favourite time for travel in Indonesia is between April to October, although Indonesia is a great year-round destination, offering memorable experiences for all kinds of adventures. July to August are the peak summer months.

In West to Central part of the weather is delightfully warm and it’s a popular time for travellers to visit for holidays, whilst if you wish to travel from October to April, the Eastern part Indonesia, like Banda and Raja Ampat, would be the best option.

If you wish to have a relaxing journey in Indonesia with less crowds, the shoulder months of April to June and September to October are ideal and slightly more economic. If you must travel in ‘high season’ but want to avoid the crowd, worry not, there are numbered of unbeaten track in Indonesia ready to be explored.

How do I get to Gorontalo?

Currently, local direct flights to Gorontalo (MDC) are available from Jakarta airport (CGK). From Denpasar, Bali (DPS), the flights normally have one transit in Makassar (UPG). Jakarta and Denpasar are where most international routes arrive and depart. 

What should I bring?

Tropical areas are usually warm and often sweaty places, especially if you have Borneo or Sulawesi included in your travel. Check out our suggestions on What to Wear:

  • Comfortable and light shirt and at least a pair of long sleeves
  • Comfortable walking shoes or trekking shoes if your trip include some trekking
  • Shorts and long pants
  • Couple of pairs of socks
  • Waterproof Jacket/Raincoat

How hard is this tour?

We have classified our tours in 3 different classes. Always check which one suitable for your condition. If you have any doubt, you may consult to our travel expert.

Easy: Suitable for most people in good health. These trips can include short walk for days with around 2–3 hours in good paths and at low altitudes.

Medium: A reasonable level of fitness or technique is required, as these trips can require sustained endurance levels as the trip may include longer days of approximately 5-6 hours of activity or/and in higher altitudes, or snorkelling in strong current.

Hard: These trips are physically demanding and best suited for people with a high endurance level, good level of fitness and exercise regularly. Days can be long around 7-8 hours of activity, often at high altitudes, in remote regions and sometimes without a support vehicle nearby. Travellers may be required to carry their backpack, trip with trekking overnights without access to normal toilets or accommodations.
