Climb to Rinjani summit, one of the highest in Indonesia. Four days of trip in Lombok Island, walk around the crater of Rinjani, and sleep in a camp by the shore of the Lake of Anak Rinjani. Reaching the summit by sunrise with the view of Gunung Agung of Bali, makes this trek one of the best mountain climbing trips in Indonesia.

Itinerary: Rinjani Summit Trekking & Camping

DAY 1: LOMBOK ARRIVAL - TRANSFER TO SEMBALUN       ▼

Upon your arrival at Lombok airport, we will be waiting for you with a sign with your name to take you to the East of the Rinjani where we will stay on the same slopes of the volcano.

On the way we will see the typical Sasak villages, and little by little we will go up until we reach the town of Sembalum where we will stay at the Guest House of the Rinjani Association of guides and porters.

The rest of the afternoon will be free for you and you can go to bed early to be prepared for the trekking.

DAY 2:SEMBALUN - TREKKING RINJANI - PLAWANGAN SEMBALUN       ▼

We wake up early at 07.00 for breakfast and check in at the official hiking center. And here our adventure begins.

After approximately 2 hours we arrive at Post number 1 and we will take a few minutes of well-deserved rest to get to the next Post around 1:00 p.m. Here we will prepare lunch and rest to resume another 3 hours of trekking until we reach Plawangan Sembalun with an altitude of 2,639 meters.

We will reach Plawangan around 4:00 p.m. and with the help of a porter, we will prepare the tents and dinner. And in this wasteland of clean air we will spend the night.

DAY 3PLAWANGAN - LAKE SEGARA ANAK - SENARU RIM       ▼

After sunrise, we will start our trek to Lake Segara Anak. You will see the beautiful Senaru volcano still active and we will rest we take a few minutes of rest around Lake Segara Anak. Then, we will go to the hot springs that are believed to cure various diseases, especially skin and rheumatic diseases, so that by fighting the cold of the heights, you can swim in this natural hot water. Lunch will be prepared by the lake. After a deserved lunch and enough rest, we continue our trekking to the crater on the edge of Senaru for 3 hours of walking. This section is one of the most dangerous because it is steep and rocks are loose so we have to be careful.

The reward will be incredible as we will reach the point from where with the views of the Bali’s Agung volcano and the smoke channel coming out of the volcano, we will enjoy the sunset. Here we will camp and enjoy our dinner.

DAY 4:SENARU RIM - SENARU VILLAGE - END OF ADVENTURE       ▼

After sunrise and contemplating the beautiful scenery of the lake, we will descend to the Senaru village for 4-5 hours. On the way we will stop to rest. We will arrive at Senaru Center around 12:30 a.m. at 1:00 p.m. Then we will take you by private car to the airport to catch your flight. Thanks for living this Rinjani summit adventure with us. FAQ

When is the best time of the year to do this tour?

Our favourite time for travel in Indonesia is between April to October, although Indonesia is a great year-round destination, offering memorable experiences for all kinds of adventures. July to August are the peak summer months. In West to Central part of the weather is delightfully warm and it’s a popular time for travellers to visit for holidays, whilst if you wish to travel from October to April, the Eastern part Indonesia, like Banda and Raja Ampat, would be the best option.

If you wish to have a relaxing journey in Indonesia with less crowds, the shoulder months of April to June and September to October are ideal and slightly more economic. If you must travel in ‘high season’ but want to avoid the crowd, worry not, there are numbered of unbeaten track in Indonesia ready to be explored.

What should I bring?

The tropics is a warm and often sweaty place, especially if you have Borneo or Sulawesi included in your travel. Check out our suggestion on What to Wear:

  • Comfortable and light shirt and at least a pair of long sleeves
  • Comfortable walking shoes or trekking shoes if your trip include some trekking
  • Shorts and long pants
  • Couple of pairs of socks
  • Waterproof Jacket/Raincoat

How Do I Get to Lombok?

From Singapore and Malaysia, you can take a direct flight to Lombok International Airport, which is located not too far from Mandalika. Flights are also available from various major cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bali. From Jakarta, the flight will take about 2 hours, while from the nearby Bali, it will only take about 30 minutes. From Bali, you can also take a ferry from Padang Bai Harbor to Lembar Harbor in Lombok. 

How Hard is Our Tour?

We have classified our tours in 3 different classes. Always check which one suitable for your condition. If you have any doubt, you may consult to our travel expert.

Easy: Suitable for most people in good health. These trips can include short walk for days with around 2–3 hours in good paths and at low altitudes.

Medium: A reasonable level of fitness or technique is required, as these trips can require sustained endurance levels as the trip may include longer days of approximately 5-6 hours of activity or/and in higher altitudes, or snorkelling in strong current.

Hard: These trips are physically demanding and best suited for people with a high endurance level, good level of fitness and exercise regularly. Days can be long around 7-8 hours of activity, often at high altitudes, in remote regions and sometimes without a support vehicle nearby. Travellers may be required to carry their backpack, trip with trekking overnights without access to normal toilets or accommodations.
