Welcome to Belitung trip! Located east of Sumatra and just an hour by plane from the bustling capital of Jakarta, is the island of Belitung. A true tropical paradise full of colorful coral reefs, virgin white sand beaches, turquoise waters and impressive granite rocks unique to this region, and that, to this day, its origin is still unknown.

The main attractions in Belitung, in addition to its already mentioned exotic beaches with granite stones of different sizes and shapes, are its more than 130 small and beautiful islands that surround it. You can’t leave here without doing some of their island hopping! You will have the opportunity to ride one of their traditional boats and go from island to island in search of colorful starfish near the island of Batu Berlayar, climb a hundred-year-old lighthouse to enjoy an incredible 360-degree view, do snorkel for fish and coral.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN BELITUNG      ▼

Welcome to Belitung!  A hidden gem in Indonesia, blesses you with some of the best beaches in the country. You’ll meet our guide at the airport and they will take you to the hotel for check-in.

DAY 2:HOPING ISLAND      ▼

After a delight breakfast at the hotel, we will go island-hopping! Before we begin, you will take a traditional boat from Tanjung Kelayang Beach, then head to Lengkuas Island, where there is a Dutch heritage lighthouse that has stood since 1882. You can see the beautiful sea and the expanse of rocks from this 18-story building. Next, we will go to the snorkeling spot to enjoy the beauty of the underwater world. Continue to Kelayang Island for lunch and a short break. Then, visit Pasir Island, where there are many starfish (the existence of this island depends on the condition of the tide), and Batu Berlayar Island, which is in the middle of the sea with a granite rock arrangement that resembles a ship’s sail.

Afterwards, we go back to Tanjung Kelayang Beach and then transfer you back to the hotel.

FAQ

When is the best time of the year to do this tour?

Our favourite time for travel in Indonesia is between April to October, although Indonesia is a great year-round destination, offering memorable experiences for all kinds of adventures. July to August are the peak summer months. In West to Central part of the weather is delightfully warm and it’s a popular time for travellers to visit for holidays, whilst if you wish to travel from October to April, the Eastern part Indonesia, like Banda and Raja Ampat, would be the best option.

If you wish to have a relaxing journey in Indonesia with less crowds, the shoulder months of April to June and September to October are ideal and slightly more economic. If you must travel in ‘high season’ but want to avoid the crowd, worry not, there are numbered of unbeaten track in Indonesia ready to be explored.

What should I bring?

The tropics is a warm and often sweaty place, especially if you have Borneo or Sulawesi included in your travel. Check out our suggestion on What to Wear:

  • Comfortable and light shirt and at least a pair of long sleeves
  • Comfortable walking shoes or trekking shoes if your trip include some trekking
  • Shorts and long pants
  • Couple of pairs of socks
  • Waterproof Jacket/Raincoat

How Do I Get to Belitung?

From Jakarta, the easiest way to get to Belitung is obviously by airplane. There are several daily Boeing 737 aircraft served by Sriwijaya Air leaving from Jakarta’s Soekarno Hatta airport direct to Hanandjoeddin Airport in Tanjung Pandan, Belitung. All flights from Jakarta to Belitung depart from Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The flight takes 45 minutes.

How Hard is Our Tour?

We have classified our tours in 3 different classes. Always check which one suitable for your condition. If you have any doubt, you may consult to our travel expert.

Easy: Suitable for most people in good health. These trips can include short walk for days with around 2–3 hours in good paths and at low altitudes.

Medium: A reasonable level of fitness or technique is required, as these trips can require sustained endurance levels as the trip may include longer days of approximately 5-6 hours of activity or/and in higher altitudes, or snorkelling in strong current.

Hard: These trips are physically demanding and best suited for people with a high endurance level, good level of fitness and exercise regularly. Days can be long around 7-8 hours of activity, often at high altitudes, in remote regions and sometimes without a support vehicle nearby. Travellers may be required to carry their backpack, trip with trekking overnights without access to normal toilets or accommodations.
