Get your dive gear ready, it’s time to dive in Indonesia again!

The Indonesian Government in conjunction with Jankar (Indonesian Shipboard Life Association) allows quarantines on a few life ships on board while diving.

  • 12 Nights
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Pick up: Manado Airport
Getting Started

To enter Indonesia, you will need to take an international flight to Manado International Airport (MDC), on the North of the island of Sulawesi, using Scoot Airline (the subsidiary of Singapore Airlines).

Once in Manado, it is no longer necessary to take any other domestic flights. The boat will be waiting at Bitung Port, which is just a 45-minute drive from Manado Airport. Due to regulations, the starting and ending port of the crossing will be Bitung.

It will be necessary to have a PCR test on the day of arrival and another the day before the end of the cruise. Once the dive trip is over, you won’t need to quarantine anymore days.

Cruise itinerary: Bitung - Halmareha - Bitung

The cruise begins in the best Muck Diving destination in the world, the Lembeh Strait, where the important thing is not the coral reef, but the unique species found on its seabed.

You will explore remote and unspoilt diving spots such as Tifore Island, Wrecks, hard corals, volcanic rocks, caves, etc.

Halmahera is the largest island in the Moluccas archipelago, a tropical island covered in jungle and located in the center of the Coral Triangle, which makes you diving in the most important marine ecosystem in the world.

The pristine white sand beaches and coral reefs offer exceptional conditions for diving and snorkeling.

These are some of the species that you can find: large fish such as hammerhead sharks, barracudas, whitetip sharks, oceanic mantas, etc.

The Goraici Islands and the Pantini Strait are famous for their beaches and canals full of multitudes of reef fish.

The boat: MSY Seahorse Liveaboard

MSY Seahorse Liveaboard is a 33-meter Phinisi luxury traditional Indonesian sailing boat, offering diving trips and adventure excursions to the best destinations in Indonesia.

The MSY Seahorse has the necessary permits for “dive-quarantine” cruises and makes the route in North Sulawesi and West Halmahera.

The classic beauty of The Seahorse Liveaboard combines traditional craftsmanship with modern conveniences and safety features that provide great comfort in Indonesia’s most remote waters.

Built in 2005, completely renovated in 2018, the Seahorse offers a level of comfort and safety among the best live-on-board dive boats in Indonesia.

The Seahorse is a luxurious and spacious vessel built by divers. It accommodates 16 guests in 5 double cabins and 3 double beds served by a crew of 12 people and 4 Dive Masters.

All of its spacious cabins are individually controlled air-conditioned and en-suite bathrooms with hot water. Its two very spacious 22-foot custom-made aluminum dinghys will make your experience of getting in and out of the sea very easy and comfortable.

PRICE

It is true that it is not the cheapest, but think that in addition to being a 12-night trip, doing a quarantine in Jakarta, would already cost a large part of that and you would be locked between four walls, so this, is like enjoying a life boat on board at half price!

Easy: Suitable for most people in good health. These trips may include a short walk for days with around 2-3 hours on good trails and at low altitude.

Medium: A reasonable level of aptitude or technique is required, as these trips may require sustained endurance levels, as the trip may include longer days of approximately 5-6 hours of activity or/and at higher altitudes, or snorkeling in strong current.

Hard: These trips are physically demanding and more suitable for people with a high level of endurance, a good level of fitness and exercise regularly. Days can be long around 7-8 hours of activity, often at high altitudes, in remote regions, and sometimes without a support vehicle nearby.
