Indonesia Opens Up Tourism for Singapore

Indonesia opens a quarantine-free travel bubble between Singapore and the neighboring islands of Batam and Bintan.

From Singapore, you can travel to islands in Indonesia without quarantine

Following the latest government regulations and the meetings of Indonesian President and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, this January 24, 2022 began the entry of tourism into Indonesia in the Islands of Batam and Bintan in a tourist bubble for all people from Singapore.

Tourists allowed to benefit from Batam/Bintan – Singapore tourist bubble will be all Singapore residents and foreigners, who have stayed the last 14 days (before traveling to Indonesia) in Singapore.

The islands of Batam and Bintan, preferred tourist destinations for Singaporeans

Due to the proximity of Batam and Bintan to Singapore, their spectacular beaches and the value-for-money of the hotel complexes, these islands have been for many years the holiday destination for excellence and weekend getaways, for thousands of Singaporeans and nearby residents such as Malaysia and even South Korea.

The new tourism bubble between Singapore and Indonesia

Due to some particular reasons including the fact that they are islands of having large investments made by Singaporeans and the ease of access (several daily feries), Indonesia has created a tourist bubble between the Islands of Bintan and Batam with Singapore.

To this end, the Indonesian government has imposed strict conditions to keep the bubble as safe as possible and prevent the increase in COVID-19 cases during tourists’ holidays.

This tourist bubble will have nurses and doctors on staff, large and family rooms and will have an area for quarantine and isolation outside the bubble, for cases of COVID-19 positive people.

The only entry points to the tourist bubble are:

  • Batam: Nongsapura Ferry Terminal for the Nongsa Sensation region, Batam
  • Bintan: Bandar Bintan Telani Ferry Terminal for Lagoi Bintan Resort Region

The resorts allowed (for now) in the tourist bubble of Batam are:

  • Tering Bay Golf & Convention Centre
  • Montigo Resort
  • Batam View Beach Resort
  • Nuvasa Bay
  • Infinite Framework Studio (Nongsa Digital Park)
  • Tamarin Satana Golf
  • Nongsa Point Marina
  • Turi Beach Resort

The resorts allowed (for now) in the tourist bubble of Bintan are:

  • Doulos Phos The Ship Hotel
  • Natra Bintan
  • The Anmon Resort Bintan
  • Chill Cove
  • Nirwana Garden Bintan
  • Laguna Bintan Golf Club
  • Banyan Tree Bintan
  • Angsana Bintan
  • Cassia Bintan
  • The Sanchaya Bintan
  • Club Med Bintan Island
  • Ria Bintan Golf Club
  • Taman Safari Lagoi
  • Bintan Mangrove

Entry requirements to the tourist bubble between Singapore and Indonesia:

– Certificate of complete VACCINATION of COVID-19 and that at least 14 days have passed since the last dose.

– Download Blue Pass and PeduliLindungi smartphone app to use during the stay and obtain a QR code by completing e-HAC International form.

– Possess a visa for Indonesia or a residence permit.

– Negative PCR test, with samples taken in the 72 hours prior to the departure of the ferry.

– Reservation of accommodation during the entire stay in the areas of Lagoi Bintan Resort or Nongsa Sensation Batam.

– Foreigners will need a medical insurance that covers at least 30,000 SGD, COVID-19 and quarantine in case of being positive.

– It is mandatory to perform a PCR test on arrival:

  • If it comes out negative, you can continue with the rest of the procedures to enter the tourist bubble: Immigration, customs and pick-up area by hotels.
  • If it comes out positive, but without symptoms, you must go to a specific hotel for the positives, outside the bubble and all expenses must be paid by the tourist (for Indonesian nationals, it will be free).
  • If you test positive, but with medium or severe symptoms, you must be hospitalized and all expenses must be paid by the tourist (for Indonesian nationals, it will be free).

All tourists who are inside the tourist bubble will only be able to interact with people within the same bubble, and will not be able to visit or do activities outside of those areas.
